Please join Mayor Richard M. Daley, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart, Mesirow Financial Chairman James C. Tyree and me in supporting The Natasha McShane Fund. Many people around the Chicagoland area were stunned to hear about the vicious attack on two young women that recently occurred in the Bucktown neighborhood. On April 23, 2010 the victims were attacked and brutally beaten with a baseball bat, as they were walking home one evening. Both women suffered severe injuries. Natasha McShane, a 23 year-old from Ireland, remains in critical condition. Due to the fine work by the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, two suspects have been charged in the attack. Natasha came to Chicago in January to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Illinois - Chicago. The eldest of five children, Natasha is known as an intelligent and outgoing young woman to her family and the many friends she has made during her short time in Chicago. Natasha’s parents and family members flew immediately to Chicago from Ireland, and have been at her bedside as she has undergone a series of dangerous operations and medical procedures. Natasha continues to struggle for her life. Please join us for a benefit in honor of Natasha McShane on Friday, June 4, 2010, from 5-9p.m. at Local 399’s (Operating Engineers) event hall, located at 2260 South Grove Street, Chicago, IL 60616 The event includes live entertainment, food, drinks and special guests. All funds raised will go directly to the Natasha McShane Fund, which was established to assist the McShane family with the expenses related to this tragedy. I hope you will consider joining Mayor Richard M. Daley, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart, James C. Tyree, and me in sponsoring this event. In addition, please share the invitation with your colleagues and invite them to participate. I believe that together, our support and prayers will inspire a positive outcome. Sincerely, Michael F. Sheahan Retired Sheriff Cook County |
